With great sadness, the History Department shares the news that Bert J. Barickman, Associate Professor of History, died on Saturday, November 12. He came to the University of Arizona as an assistant professor in 1990 and taught his last class two days before his death.  Professor Barickman enjoyed a close affiliation with Latin American Studies as well as History. who wrote a final paper for her HIST 348 class in the spring that compares audience reception to the films Gone With the Wind and Song of the South when they premiered.  This paper will be published in the Arizona Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies.

who has been hired by the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences to be the undergraduate academic advisor for History and Latin American Studies.   Kathryn graduated from the UA's Department of History with her Ph.D. in Latin American History in 2015.  She will begin her advising duties in early-July.  Welcome, Kathryn!
