Victor Javier Aguilar is a doctoral student, originally from Los Angeles, California. His studies center around the community and culture-building of Queer Latinos in the United States during the 20th century, with a focus on the effects of immigration, popular culture, and home politics on this community. He is also interested in various aspects of popular culture, including sports history, popular culture and resistance, and food culture. 

Prior to his time at the University of Arizona, he held various roles at San Francisco State University. He has always enjoyed working with students and helping underserved communities, whether it was through recruitment and retention efforts or teaching. He held various roles in Student Affairs as well as the Office of the President. He also served as the University’s Interim Tribal Government Relations Lead where he oversaw the University’s repatriation efforts and relationships with Tribal Nations. He received both my BA (2020) and MA (2022) in History from San Francisco State University.
