Rachel is a PhD student in History, situated in the Division for Late Medieval and Reformation Studies. Her interest in language and rhetoric during a BA in English at the University of Waterloo led her to an MA in History (also at Waterloo), where she examined the letters of Teresa of Avila. While a research assistant to Dr. Greta Kroeker on The Artemisia Project: Rape in Early Modern Europe, she created pedagogical materials about historiography. Now she continues her earlier interests in language and religious women by turning her research focus to nuns in northern Germany and their fifteenth- and sixteenth-century material concerns.
