Md. Habibullah is a PhD student in the Department of History at the University of Arizona, specializing in environmental history, with a particular focus on the intersections of environment, economy, and culture in South Asia. His research examines how the Indian Ocean monsoon shaped environmental settings, agricultural practices, and cultural rhythms in Eastern India between the 13th and 18th centuries CE.


He is currently on study leave from his position as Lecturer in the Department of History at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, where he has been teaching since 2021. Prior to that, he served as Lecturer at the University of Barishal. He has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses and contributed to academic administration as an Assistant House Tutor of a residential student dormitory.


Habibullah has co-investigated research projects, organized international conferences, and contributed to textbooks and curricula at the national level. He has published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on ancient and medieval history, with a particular focus on agriculture, historical geography, and environment in the context of Eastern India and South Asia.
