In the final years of his life, in the first decade of the fifteenth century, the physician, engineer, astrologer and crusader Konrad Kyeser created one of the most fascinating books of the Middle Ages, Bellifortis, a compendium of mechanical, magical and military arts, which also displayed contemporary knowledge of many other topics in dozens of detailed drawings and descriptions.
