Come celebrate Black History Month at an event initiated and organized by the Department of History's Public History Collaborative! Sounds of History: An Evening of Jazz brings together the University and Tucson at the Hotel Congress on Saturday, February 10, for a free event to explore community and culture through history and music. SBS faculty Tyina Steptoe (History) and Derrais Carter (GWS) along with Neto Portillo will speak about the cultural and historical importance of jazz over time both locally and nationally. Tucson-area jazz musicians, including local high school jazz bands, will delight the audience with performances.
