I am a PhD candidate studying British history with an interest in the intersections of gender, status, popular culture, and the state. My dissertation combines these interests in exploring the lives of British and Irish sailors and their families from 1770 to 1820.

I have a BA in European History from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an MA in Modern European History from the University of Arizona. Between degrees, I worked as a seventh-grade social studies teacher with Teach For America, earning my teaching certification.
