The University of Arizona’s Division for Late Medieval and Reformation Studies together with St. Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church take great pleasure in inviting you to our 2011 Summer Lecture Series, “Flight into Strange Lands: Religious Migration in the Early Modern World.”

This year’s series will place the timely theme of immigration within a historical setting. Specifically, the lectures will take up prominent examples of expulsion or voluntary emigration out of religious motives—the desire to retain the faith of a group’s ancestors or to find an environment within which to practice “true religion.” Each lecture will portray the bravery exhibited by women and men who were committed to their nonconformist beliefs.
