2019 Department of History Commencement Lunch & Ceremony

In addition to commencement ceremonies offered by the University of Arizona and the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, the Department of History sponsors its own commencement activities. We are one of very few departments on campus that chooses to honor its graduates with their own commencement program. Each student is recognized individually and is given the opportunity to say a few words to those in attendance. We feel that by giving our graduates the opportunity to celebrate their achievements in a more intimate atmosphere, with the faculty who have guided and mentored them, as well as with their fellow history students, their commencement experience will be more meaningful and memorable.

If you are graduating this year, please fill out the "Graduating Student Profile Form" and email it to Dakota Hogeboom (dhogeboom@email.arizona.edu), or you can bring it to Dakota in the UA History Main Office located in the Cesar Chavez Building, room 415.

Date:  Friday, May 10, 2019

Time:  1:00pm - 4:00pm

Location:  Arizona Historical Society (Auditorium)

Address:  949 East 2nd Street, Tucson, AZ  85719 (corner of Park Avenue and Second Street)

Food: Catered with vegetarian options available. 

Cost: Free admission to graduating History students (including those who graduated in December 2018) with an RSVP prior to Friday, May 3, 2019. Non-teaching assistant graduate students who RSVP prior to Friday, May 3rd have a $5.00 admission fee. All guests who RSVP before Friday, May 3rd have a $10.00 admission fee, each. Tickets will also be sold at the door the day of the event for an additional charge and are non-tax deductable. Due to the capacity of the event location, we ask that graduates limit their guest amount to 10 individuals or less. If you plan on RSVPing for five or more guests, please RSVP and purchase your tickets prior to Friday, April 19, 2019.

Dress:  Caps and gowns are always welcomed, but not required.
